Information on the Novel Coronavirus Disease (COVID-19)

For foreign nationals residing outside of Japan who are planning to arrive at NAOJ for research work

【Updated April 28, 2023】

Starting on May 8, the legal status of COVID-19 will be moved to "Class 5", which is equivalent to seasonal influenza under the infectious disease law. In line with this transition, all travelers boarding an aircraft arriving in Japan on or after midnight on April 29 (JST) are no longer required to submit a valid vaccination certificate (three doses ) or a valid certificate of negative COVID-19 test result taken within 72 hours before departure.
Upon arrival, those entering Japan with symptoms of suspected COVID-19 infection will be tested. Those who test positive will be required to quarantine at a designated facility. Please be sure to check the links below for the latest information, as changes could be made before your arrival.
